1. The Fight for Climate Change - Hutterer
Karl Hutterer had a career as an archaeologist, with academic positions at Bryn Mawr College, the University of Michigan, and the University of Washington. He was Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History from 2000-2013. A Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), he conducted extensive research in tropical Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Pacific. In the course of his scientific work, he became deeply interested in ecology and the role humans play in the incredibly diverse environments they inhabit. After retiring from the museum directorship, he served on the board of the Community Environmental Council (CEC) for seven years. He has followed the evolving science of climate for the past 30 years.
Karl will summarize the progress in fighting climate change, about forecasts for coming decades, potential impacts on human health and wealth, and climate policies the US and countries around the world. Where do we go from here?
2. Green Home Designs + Unleashing Solar Microgrids - Lewis
Craig Lewis is the Founder and Executive Director of the Clean Coalition since 2009 with over 30 years of experience in policy and technology innovation, including the proliferation of Solar Microgrids and Community Microgrids. Prior to founding the Clean Coalition, Craig held numerous positions in the wireless, semiconductor, banking, and renewable energy industries. Previously VP of Government Relations at GreenVolts, he was the first to successfully navigate a solar project through California’s Renewable Portfolio Standard solicitation process. Craig was energy policy lead on Steve Westly’s 2006 California gubernatorial campaign. His resume includes senior government relations, corporate development, and marketing positions at leading wireless, semiconductor, and banking companies such as Qualcomm, Ericsson, and Barclays Bank. Craig received an MBA and MSEE from the University of Southern California and a BSEE from the University of California, Berkeley.
